Welcome and hello!

Valentine’s Day. What if we made the day not only about romantic love, but all love in all its forms? It could shift into compassion to yourself, glide into gratitude for an opportunity, or even stretch into patience for a child. Imagine what would happen if we put a little more heart into everyday life. Just some food 🍝 for thought 💭. Now, here’s some digital marketing news for your reading pleasure:

  • Social Media 2023 Edition. Some quick facts for ya from Insider Intelligence:
    • For the first time, more Gen Z is on social media than Gen X.
    • Meta’s grip on the industry is declining.
    • TikTok is still teetering on the legislative fence.
  • Did you watch the Super Bowl on Sunday? Did your team win? Do you remember the commercials? We thought you might like to see stats from last year’s Super Bowl’s advertising revenue and ROI: “According to Kantar’s Super Bowl LVI Ad Effectiveness Report, the 2022 Super Bowl ads delivered an average ROI of $4.60 per dollar spent.” Consider that the average cost of a 30-second spot last year was $6.5 million (and for this year it was expected to be $7 million). #WOOF🐶
  • Some Microsoft/Bing updates for ya:🔎
    • They expanded their reach to 164 markets worldwide, allowing businesses with the ability to reach over 1 billion people.
    • Also, Microsoft stated that Bing “saw the largest jump in relevance in two decades”.

Do Good Spotlight #2
🌟 It Gets Better Project 🌟

As our second charity, in honor of Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating love. The It Gets Better Project works to “uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth around the globe.” You may have heard about them through their TikTok campaigns, especially their “50 States. 50 Grants. 5000 Voices.” initiative where they give students money to improve LGBTQ+ youth programs in their schools. Check them out, and learn more: It Gets Better Project.

  • You know A.I.-chatbot search is going mainstream when it hits the front page of the NY Times. 📰 The article cover’s last Tuesday’s reveal of the new Bing search engine that is currently only available to a select few but expects to expand access to millions more by the end of the month.
  • While on the topic, Business Insider has a column with this provocative title: “Bard is going to destroy online search” and sub-head “Sure Google’s answer to ChatGPT will save you time. But it’ll also lie to you.” It provides perspective on how chatbots streamlining answers to “exploratory searches” can lead to misinformation or, worse, disinformation. Don’t have time to read the full story? Ponder this: “If a search engine offers only easy answers, no one will be able to ask hard questions.”

Sending positivity to you all!
